SAP is a provider of enterprise resource planning (ERP) software and is a descendant of the Xerox business computing division. After selling built-to-suit solutions for large enterprises since 1971, SAP entered the SME market segment in 2002 with the formation of SAP Business One.
SAP created SBO to be their most affordable ERP. SBO was created with small-to-medium businesses in mind and requires minimal customization. SAP Business One is configured for both cloud and on-premises deployments, with applications to handle all business needs from CRM to manufacturing. SBO is better suited to small manufacturing because it lacks the features required for out-of-the-box use, such as farsighted planning and shop floor control.
SBO has a large community of value-added resellers with locally developed modules to suit complex manufacturing processes, with over 50,000 customers from 190 countries.
Several open-source modules make it possible to customise Odoo to suit a wide range of business needs. For each business function that Odoo manages, there is a separate app for that function. Odoo, which can be used on-premises or in the cloud, is constantly improving its apps. The highlights of Odoo's newly released Manufacturing Module include many features such as Maintenance, Quality, and PLM apps, as well as MPS and MRP Subcontracting features. Some other new features include the Skills Management Module, the Website Form Builder and building blocks, the Point of Sale User Interface (UX), the Data Cleaning App, the Product Videos on E-Commerce, and the Smart Date Picker.
